EPA Finalizes California’s List of Polluted Waters |

More of California’s waterways are impaired than previously known, according to a list of polluted waterways submitted by the state to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and finalized by the agency today. Increased water monitoring data shows the number of rivers, streams and lakes in California exhibiting overall toxicity have increased 170 percent from 2006 to 2010.

EPA announces funding to restore Great Lakes and put people back to work |

Gary, Indiana - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced funding for Great Lakes Restoration Initiative projects at beaches and a Gary park totaling nearly $2 million that will put people back to work, using a conservation corps model to hire unemployed workers to improve habitat and shoreline.

EPA Paves Way for New Ozone Plans |

With the continuing goal of improving air quality for millions of Californians, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to approve the 8-hour ozone air quality plans for the San Joaquin Valley and South Coast areas. These plans, known as State Implementation Plans, are the roadmaps to meeting the Clean Air Act standard of 0.08 parts per million of ozone as measured in 8-hour increments.

Reclamation Increases Flows in the Stanislaus River |

On Monday, September 12, the Bureau of Reclamation will incrementally increase releases from New Melones Dam into the Stanislaus River from 400 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 2,000 cfs. The higher releases are necessary to manage the reservoir’s flood space and will remain at that rate until further notice.
